As part of our science curriculum we are finding out about plants we eat. This topic involves planting lettuce, pepper, strawberry, tomato, kiwi and cucumber seeds in our brand new polytunnel. We will water them and make sure they have lots of sunlight to help them grow. Soon we will all enjoy eating some healthy and tasty fruit and vegetables!
We had a joint celebration today for the Queen’s 90th birthday and St. George’s Day. Everyone dressed up in red and white and we had a special lunch of fish and chips. In class we all enjoyed designing a hat for the Queen and finished the day with chocolate and juice!
On World Book Day children in 2C had reading time in the library, used iPads to read their favourite book and had a parade of costumes in the playground.
We particularly liked it when the WOW room was set up as a scary forest with haunting music playing in the background and Mrs. Carroll sharing spooky stories with us. We finished this session with some role play. At the end of the day parents were welcomed into class to share books with their children.
Everyone agreed it was a brilliant day but the best was dressing up as a character from a book. Take a look at the photographs. Can you name all the characters? We could!
We didn’t know fractions could be such fun!
On Tuesday it was Safer Internet Day. In the morning Robbie the Bobby told us how to keep safe on the internet. Then we completed a quiz about using the computer safely and we also made a poster to promote safety on the internet. After lunch Keira and Carl from Year 6 showed us their e-cadet film. Finally we remembered to be smart and safe when we used the ipads to do some research on the internet.
Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Latimer think we are all great mathematicians because we can use sharing as a method to solve division problems.
Today we made fish swim and disappear! This was all part of the coding topic in I.C.T.
It was Aspirations Week in school this week and 2C were lucky enough to meet a police officer, vet and tour guide. The children prepared questions for our visitors and found out some very interesting facts about each job.
They finished the week by dressing up as doctors, hairdressers, fire fighters, dancers, footballers and lots more. Take a look at the photographs!
Year 2 started their Christmas celebrations with a visit to Santa’s grotto followed by beautiful singing at the Advent service in church. Our party in the afternoon was great fun with lots of dancing and party games. We all had a wonderful time.
Children in 2C were junior chefs last week. With help from our school cook the children found out about the different ingredients, had a go at making dough and used cutters. The result – delicious and perfectly baked cookies!
The children in 2C understand that onomatopoeia is the use of a word that imitates a sound. An example of this would be ‘hiss’. The children created fabulous onomatopoeic firework poems.
Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Latimer love the talking poems that the class produced and are very proud of all the children. Have a look. What do you think?
During aspirations week 2C enjoyed meeting a Vet, Pilot and a Dentist. Our visitors talked about their jobs and they each had a funny story to share with us!
On Friday we all enjoyed dressing up. Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Dolan thought we looked fantastic.
