Class 2R

2015 - 2016

Last week 2R planted lots of seeds in our schools new poly tunnel. We hope to grow

lettuce, tomatoes, strawberries, peppers, aubergines, cucumber and kiwi.This half term in science the children are learning about plants we eat.

Today 2R celebrated our Queen's 90th birthday and also St.Georges day.We had a Special Fish Dinner, then juice and a chocolate gold coin later in class.

Wednesday is here again and Year 2 are doing the mile run. It was a lovely day and we ran for 10 minutes. Here are pictures of us exercising and having fun.

In PE this half term the children in 2R are doing gymnastics. During this lesson they were exploring different ways to travel. 17.3.16

World Book Day

In our music lesson, with Mrs Dean, 2R have been learning about Rhythm and Beat.Here we are in action.

On Tuesday 09.02.16 it was Safer Internet Day.

Robbie the Bobby came in to school to talk to us about ''How to stay safe when using the Internet''.

In class we all made BE SMART posters and during the afternoon we used the school laptops following the Internet Safety Rules.

Year 2's topic this half term is Pirates.

This week 2R have been learning lots of facts about them and painting pictures.

This week 2R have been recognizing that division means sharing.

Aspirations Week

Year 2 had a wonderful day on Tuesday 15th December.

The day began with an Advent Service in Church and then we saw Father Christmas in his grotto. We then had our Christmas dinner in the hall.

In the afternoon we had a fabulous party. We played party games and danced the afternoon away.Here are some of our photos

This term Year 2 have been learning to play African drums with the music Teacher Mr Barnes.

This has taught them about rhythm,timing and beat. Also they have had a lot of fun

Last week Year 2 made shortbread biscuits with Denise our cook.

We learnt about the ingredients you need and how to mix them together to make the dough.

We then used cookie cutters to shape our biscuits and while we waited for them to cook we talked about what we had made.

This lesson is part of Food Technology which is a unit of the Design Technology Curriculum.

Year 2 2014 - 2015

In 2R we enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Maritime Museum and joined in a pirate show.

These children from Year 2 have all just graduated from Numbers Count with Mrs Baker-Houghton all children have made good progress. well done!

In 2R we sent off balloons for aspirations week and we had a reply from Anne-Marie ,Buster and Tilly (the dogs).

Last week we made posters on iPad for our Topic of Keeping Healthy. This week we planned and designed our own posters. We are learning lots of new things about how to keep our bodies healthy.
