Mayan Art - developing self-portraits to include intricate pattern work and transform ourselves into Mayan Gods !!!
With Mrs Baker-Houghton
The British Red Cross
All year 6 took part in a workshop where they learned about first aid. The session was active and the pupils really enjoyed the practical demonstrations.
Read some of their reports showing what they found out.
Library Visit
All Year 6 visited the local library in Norris Green.
They looked at non-fiction and fiction books, shared their favourite stories and authors and arranged the books as if they were librarians themselves.
Some children filled out the forms and joined as a result of this visit.
Some of our year 6 children have entered the Radio 2 500 Word Story Competition.
Have a read of some of their entries. We wish each of them good luck.

Stories, stories, stories and more stories…
Katrice Horsley, who is a professional storyteller, visited our school to work with each year group and some parents too. She shared her love of stories with us by telling us lots of amazing stories.
As the National Storytelling Laureate, she visits lots of schools and we loved listening to her storytelling. Here are some quotes from our Year 6 pupils about her visit:
Georgia Taylor: Katrice Horsely was an amazing inspiration to not just me to everyone. Her quote was… “My advice is, just go out there and tell stories, you are perfect for who you are.”
Paddy Brennan: I liked your laugh and your story telling. You are so, so good! How do you think of all those stories. I also liked your language.
Georgia Sweeney: Katrice Horsely was like no other storyteller, she was such an inspiration to me and many others. She inspired me to enter the Radio 2 ‘500 Words Competition’ and without her I wouldn’t have the guts to join. Since it has recently been Aspirations Week, I think she was a BIG aspiration!
Oliver Malkin: Katrice Horsely is a amazing story teller. She tells little kid’s nursery stories and big kids like year 6 little bit of horror stories. The other week Katrice asked our Head teacher if she could have year 6 come again and she told us a horror story and it was scary. She inspired me and everyone else.
Isobel Eales: Katrice Horsely is a lovely person, my favorite quote of hers was: “Let your imagination take you anywhere you want!” She also quoted that: “Don’t tell the story, be the story!” It was a fun lesson.
Year 6 Writing
Each child in year 6 thought about the legacy they would like to leave behind when they leave and move on to secondary school next year. We used Beyonce’s song ‘I Was Here’ as our inspiration and reflected on the mark they will make this year.
They imagined they were Mrs Benwell and wrote a letter explaining their legacy in year 6 at St Teresa of Lisieux from September 2014 - July 2015.
