On Tuesday the children in Reception had a lovely day at Acorn farm. The children could stroke baby chickens and ducks. It was a fantastic day thanks to all the staff and parent helpers who very kindly came on the trip .
The children in Reception have been looking forward to the England and Poland match today .
The children in Reception enjoyed listening to the story of Stickman. Miss RIley took the children out into the Polytunnel for an adventure. The children made their own Stickman, and took him on an adventure.
The children in Reception had a lovely time tasting lots of food. They tasted croissants, polish crisps and polish sausages. We have also been talking about famous landmarks in Liverpool and have painted pictures of them . Another busy and exciting week in Reception .
This week in Reception we have been talking about pirates . The children had the experience of walking the plank. We even made Mrs Cowpland walk the plank. We also tried to make faces like a pirate .
The girls had a fantastic time being creative with large chalks outside. They produced some fantastic art work . Well done girls
The children have had a fantastic time playing with the large blocks outside. They pretended to be builders and talked about all the busy jobs they had to do.
The boys have been very busy this week writing stories and making signs for the shop .
The children and staff have been very busy planting lots of new flowers and bulbs in the containers . Inside of the unit we have planted strawberries and tomatoes and hope to transfer them soon to the recently purchased poly tunnel.
The children and staff enjoyed dressing up for world book day .
Exciting news the eggs have hatched in Reception. When the children came into school on Monday they were excited to meet the new addition to class. By lunch time a few more eggs had hatched. The children have enjoyed watching them grow and change over the past few days . The chicks will be returned to Acorn farm in Kirkby. The children want to plan a visit to the farm to see the
On Monday the parents and children visited the phonics workshop. The parents had the opportunity to talk to Mrs Cowpland about reading in school. The Parents had lots of fun playing phonic games and reading stories . A big thank you to all our parents who attended the workshop.
The children in class have been talking about birthdays. The girls have made a special birthday party for Elephant . In the video they are singing happy Birthday to him. Well done girls .

On Wednesday the children in Reception went to church. We went to look at all the special statues. The children were fascinated by the beautiful colours in the stain glass windows. The children said a special prayer for their families.
Aspirations Week
RM and RG have had lots of fun this week. We have learnt about all different kinds of professions and we even had a visit from a Vet and a Policewoman.
All the children looked very festive in their Christmas jumpers .
During Anti -Bullying week the children have been talking about how to be a good friend, and how to be kind to each other . We read the story of the Three Little Pigs. We talked about how the wolf could be kind to the pigs. The children painted pictures and acted out the story . We also listened to songs about how to be be kind to each other.
The children in Reception have been very busy during the first half term . They have settled well into the school routine and they have all made lots of new friends.
We have been learning lots of letter sounds and how to write them. The children have the opportunity each day to use the iPads to reinforce their learning .
The children have lots of opportunities to use the outdoor area . The activities planned reinforce learning across the curriculum .
Reception 2014 - 2015
The children in RG had a great time making Minecraft figures with blocks. They talked about how they would make their figures and spent a lot of time constructing them !! Well done boys

This week (23rd-27th February), Reception have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have had lots of fun with activities; making Chinese dragons and lanterns, doing Chinese writing, making colourful fireworks with powder paints, celebrating with Chinese foods such as special cookies called "Fortune cookies" which help us to tell our fortune, building a large dragon and even having a Chinese Restaurant in our very own classroom!
Our topic in RE has been Celebrations. On the 23rd January it was Miss. Taylor's birthday and we wanted to celebrate it with her. We had lots of fun having cake, party food and party games. RT even surprised Miss. Taylor with a beautiful selection of home-made cards. Thank you everyone for such a lovely day!
RG and RT have been learning all about Celebrations and Weddings in RE. We had a wonderful preparing for it and we decided that we wanted to get married on the 12th February. We had lots of fun having a big party afterwards and getting dressed in our posh outfits. Well done everyone for making our wedding day a success!
We love to be creative in Reception and this term we have been using water colour paints, these pictures are of us painting a vase of flowers. we like to see how the colours mix when we paint.
We have been learning our sounds and how to make, read and write three letter words. We are getting rally good at it.
Our topic has been The Gruffalo, we have read the book and talked about the characters. We are making a book for Mrs Warners children, here are some of the pictures we have painted to go into the book.
We had great fun reading the story of the naughty bus.
The children in RG have had a fantastic first week in school. They were so excited to meet Malcom the monkey and read stories about dinosaurs.
