What a lovely first week back after the holidays. Some tired children by Friday. This week we discussed the Summer Season. We enjoyed eating the fresh produce from our garden. We spent a day exploring and investigating the garden. We found fruit,vegetables, mini beasts, bees and beautiful flowers. The children enjoyed writing about their experience. We also enjoyed our role play face painting station in school.
This week the children have enjoyed learning whilst out in the sun. We will finish our pirate theme this week with our pirate party tomorrow. We are very excited. To get ready for our pirate party we have made lists, invitations and posters. Enjoy the break and stay safe!!
Big thank you to all who attended the Maths Workshop , the children really enjoy having the opportunity to work with their parents/nan's/carers etc. We continued some of the activities in class.
The children are still enjoying our pirate theme. This week we had some shipwrights in our class. The children enjoyed planning and constructing pirate ships. This week we looked at how to halving. we started by halving play dough shapes, pizza and cookies. We are know learning how to share and half numbers. Stay safe in the sunshine RM.
We are enjoying the warmer weather. We have had some fantastic learning opportunities outside this week. We learnt how to tell the time. We recorded how many physical challenges we could do in a certain length of time. The children have enjoyed measuring time. They have made their very own watches this week. This week we say Goodbye to one of our friends as she moves out of the area. We wish her good luck in her new school.
This week was the start of our Pirate theme in class. We have also opened our own hairdressers. The children have had some crazy creative ideas. We began our new RE topic of Pentecost. this week we discussed Good News. The children enjoyed playing chinese whispers.
The Easter holidays have arrived!! We have had a busy week getting ready for Easter. On Monday we made beautiful Easter cards for our families. On Tuesday we had a lovely Easter picnic and egg hunt. On Wednesday we made Easter cakes. On Thursday we went to church and had an Easter craft morning. Even when are busy doing all these fun things we managed to do some fabulous writing. Hope you all have a safe/enjoyable well deserved Easter break.
We really enjoyed going to watch the nursery children preform their nursery rhyme concert in Church. We are very proud of them. We read the story of the hungry caterpillar this week and enjoyed the activities that followed. We had finger painting, fruit shop and we even made our own caterpillars with cucumbers and tomatoes for snack.
This week in RM we have worked on our addition skills, discussed the different ways to travel and used the construction blocks to replicate.The children have produced some great work this week. We finally took the Ipad to PE so that we could get some pictures of the children doing yoga.
This week we had lots of helpers (students) in our classroom, they helped us celebrate Red Nose Day. The raised money over two days. We had a crazy hair day and a dress up day. Thank You to all the parents. The children looked amazing and had lots of fun. This week we continued to work on addition, we discussed dental hygiene and we made Mother's Day Cards. We hope all you Mums/Nans/Carers had a lovely day.
This week in RM we introduced Spring to the children. We wrote instructions to plant seeds and made daffodils.The children have made a lovely Spring display in the corridor. The children enjoyed the Spring theme when we visited the Wow Room. Later in the week we celebrated St.Patrick's Day. We had great fun making hats, cards singing and when tried a bit of Irish dancing. Hope you all have a lovely St.Patrick's Day. sláinte!!
I would like to thank the parents for attending our Rejoice Assembly. It was lovely to share some of our work with you in such a calm and special way. The children were very proud of themselves and we as teachers were also very proud of how lovely they presented their work. We look forward to our next one. This week the children have produced some fantastic writing which you will be able to see during parents evening. We introduced money to the children this week and this will be something we continue to work on. We have also enjoyed the new Mathseeds app on our Ipads. You can log into reading eggs as normal and access Mathseeds which the children love. This week in PE we started learning a few yoga poses. We will continue this for a few more weeks,get the children to demonstrate at home.
Wow what a very busy week back after the holidays. Over the half term we had a Giant visit our class. We were welcomed on Monday with a mess and a giant egg. Wednesday was world maths day where we completed lots of Jack and the Beanstalk activities. On Thursday it was world book day, we had a "Mr Men" themed day. We had lots of different characters. Some children were very creative with their ideas.We had a Mr Freezy and a Little Miss Helpful. Our RE topic now is Growing. We have planted our own seeds and will watch them grow in the next coming weeks. Who could forget Pancake Tuesday!! The children enjoyed trying a few different toppings for their pancakes.
This week the children have enjoyed a week full of creativity. We had fun mixing colour's, making Valentine's cards and painting using water colours. This week was our last week in Singing with Miss Tremarco. The Children have really enjoyed this and we are very grateful for the experience. This week we learned all about 3d Shapes. We then went on a hunt around school to see what we could find. We got to look in the big children's class rooms while they were at lunch. We then used the Ipads to take pictures of the shapes we found. This week was the first week we completed the Wednesday Mile. We had a few cut knees but we enjoyed being active and keeping healthy. Please remember to send your child's PE kit back to school.
This week has been a very exciting week in Reception. After three long weeks the eggs have hatched and out popped 5 hens and 5 cockerels. The children have enjoyed feeding and playing with the chicks. The chicks will return to acorn farm and we plan to go and visit them in the summer .
I am sure that you already that in school this week we made bread. We read the story of the Little Red Hen and discussed how to make people feel happy and to be good friends. In the story the Red Hen makes bread so in Key Person time this week we made some of our own. The children enjoyed getting stuck in. they then ate the bread for their snack the next day. The children have had a ICT expert come to class on a Thursday afternoon, they enjoy using the robots and ipads to complete tasks.
This week in RM we celebrated Chinese New Year. We had a Chinese craft evening with the Year 6 Buddies. We tasted Prawn Crackers and Noodles, some of the children even tried to use chopsticks. This week we counted and added one more. We enjoyed learning outside this week in the dry weather. We can not wait until the sun comes out!! The children have completed some amazing writing in relation to Chinese New Year, we planned a Chinese Banquet. We are also getting very excited for our eggs to hatch in the coming weeks. This week the children have really tried hard to improve their writing. We have started to write some simple sentences. The children have created a stage in class, they have been taking turns to put on all different kind of shows. This week we talked about all different kinds of celebrations and focused on Wedding Celebrations, Over the course of the week we have had a variety of Brides,Bridesmaid and Husbands. Once again the children have enjoyed using the school Library to borrow books to read in class and they enjoyed playing Dodgeball during PE. We have also used the IPADS in class to log onto Reading Eggs, please begin/continue to use Reading Eggs at home. We have a busy week ahead with the arrival of our eggs that the children will look after until they hatch and we will also be having Chinese New Year Celebrations.
We hope that you all have a lovely Christmas Holiday and are sticking to your New Years Resolution. RM made some New Year Resolutions with their Buddies in Yr6. It has been aspirations week in school so the children have had a fun filled week. We have had a range of Visitors this week, the Police, a Vet and a Nurse.The children really enjoyed having these visitors and asked lots of different questions. Aspirations the children have range from a Teacher, Firefighter, Ballerina to wrestlers, Robot makers and Babysitters. On Thursday we had a visit from Trees for Cities, we put on our wellington boots, coats and done some gardening. The children have really enjoyed dressing up and role playing a variety of job roles.
The Christmas celebrations are well and under way. The children's nativity performance was fantastic, we hope you all enjoyed it. Also this week the reception children got paired up with a buddy from year 6. When we return after the Christmas holidays they will meet up once every two weeks to work together. The children have loved this as the year 6 children have been coming down to class this term. Now all the hard work is done its time to enjoy the run up to Christmas with the children, we are busy making cards and gifts for you all. We have our own little workshop!!
Wow!! What a busy week we have had in Reception. Jack Frost can not stop us. The children enjoyed exploring outside with the ice and frost as the weather got colder, as well as completing some maths work outside. Brrrrrr. We have also learnt how to keep our bodies healthy through exercise and food this week. Surprisingly some children thought potatoes grew on tress!!! Hopefully they know better after all the work we have done this week. The children also got to taste some different vegetables during snack time. Celery was not a one of the favourites.!!! Then to finish the week off and start the Christmas Celebrations we went to Visit Father Christmas and all the animals at Acorn Farm. Busy Busy Busy!!!!
Stay and Play has now finished for this term, I just wanted to say a big thank you for taking part and coming to school. The children have loved having their parents/family in school. This week we continued to read fairy-tale stories. Our favourite was Little Red Riding Hood. We have enjoyed describing the characters and acting out the story. This week in maths we looked at all different types of patterns and made our own. We even tried to make patterns with musical instruments on Wednesdays with our buddies from year 6. We are looking forward to our trip next week!
Although the weather has been miserable we have had a lovely week in RM. As always busy busy busy!! The children really enjoy having the year 6 Buddies to help them learn, they will soon have an individual Buddy. Stay & Play has continued this week and will do so next week. We had Bobby come to class and talk about being a good friends as it has been Anti-Bullying week, we read the story of the 3 little pigs and discussed how the big bad wolf behaved. We will continue to look at fairy tales next week, feel free to reads stories at home and talk about different fairy tales. We also had a very special visit to the Church, the children's behaviour was excellent.
Thank You to the parents who attended the Story Workshop and Stay and Play this week.The stay & play dates and times are on the class window if you need to double check. The children loved having their parents in school to read stories and take part in the different activities set up. This week we also made our very own sparklers with bread sticks,chocolate and sprinkles. I have also included a few pictures of the children in the Library. The children are doing really well with their phonics and reading but please make sure your child brings their book bag everyday.
Our Buddies are back!! They had a wonderful time on their school trip to Colomendy but we were glad to have them back to help us on Wednesday. This week they helped us count and recognise numbers. The children are getting much better at counting and recognising numbers and it would be great is they could practise during their week off. We have had lots of maths activites this week. This week the children have enjoyed learning all about the Autumn season and some children brought collections of Autumn items to school. Also wanted to show you how smart the class looks in their PE kits. Busy busy week once again. Hope the kids have a lovely week off school and stay safe. Miss Mc Glinchey & Mrs Doyle.
This week we had a Bear and planned lots of different types of activities around this. We went on a hunt to see what the bear can see, we made telescopes and our very own brown bears. We also created our own story's with brown bears and learnt all different facts about bears. We were having so much fun this week we forgot to take lots of pictures.
This week in RM we have had another busy week. This week we read the Naughty Bus story. The children enjoyed this story and we came up with alternative endings to the story. Some child have very good imaginations. This week we meet our Year 6 Buddies. The Year 6 children will come to class on a Thursday and play/work with the children. The children really enjoyed this. We also had a wonderful singing lesson with Miss Tremarco. We have started getting changed for PE this week. Please remember put names in your child's clothing.
Another busy week in RM. We had a special visitor discussing how to be safe on the road. We had our first visit to the WOW room. This week we read the story Sam's Sandwich and completed lots of activities. We went on a mini beast hunt in the garden. We also went on a number and shape hunt around school. We continued to build house and then on Friday we made our own sandwiches. (Don't worry the children didn't put bugs in.)
This week as been a busy week for the children as were in school full time. Once again the children have enjoyed school and had lots to keep them busy. We had our first PE lesson on Tuesday and the children loved it. This week we focused on Family, numbers and shapes.The pictures give you a small insight to a week in Reception. Welcome to RM! The children enjoyed their first week in School. We enjoyed music and had a great time planting cabbages and kale in the Edible Garden. Rest up and get ready for a full week next week!!
