World Poetry Day and The Opening of "The Gill Day Library"
We have been preparing for this day for months and months and finally we have opened our new Library and Wow room.
The children have had a wonderful day sharing poetry with Curtis Watt, making cartoons with Marc Jackson and meeting Author and Illustrator Steve Weatherill.
The media descended and so did local MP Stephen Twigg, who cut the ribbon.
We were able to spend time remembering our colleague Gill Day and hope our Library will inspire our children in the way that Mrs Day did in all her years as Teacher at the school.
The day has generated enthusiasm and excitement about reading and books and the children are energised to get in there witheir friends to choose something to read.
In the coming weeks each class will have the chance to invite family members into school to visit the Library and Wow room and share some stories together.
