We have watched our caterpillars turn into cocoons .Then right before our eyes we watched the butterflies emerge from the cocoons. They spread their soggy wings and we watched them feed on the flowers. Today we released them into our garden as the children sang "Fly little butterflies". TRUE MAGIC.

The nursery children had a fabulous Easter Bonnet Parade. Well done to our families for all the hard work in making them. The children are going to look after them now over the Easter holiday as they are being displayed in church as part of our new REAL project.

HAPPY EASTER XXX

On Thursday our REAL Nursery Rhyme Project came to an end with a fabulous performance of nursery rhymes in church. The children came to school dressed as nursery rhyme characters. They wowed the audience with a performance of number rhymes and traditional nursery rhymes. They used signing too. We were very proud when they sang a Polish nursery rhyme about a Kitty Cat climbing a fence and singing a silly song that wasn’t very long.
The children have worked hard practising drawing of nursery rhyme characters. This week we were delighted to sell beautiful wrapping paper with a picture from every child. Thanks to Max Spielmann in Broadway for printing this for us.

We have been learning about problems in stories .We shared the story of Hatch Egg Hatch. Then we had our own problem .We found an egg in our nursery. We didn't know where it had come from or what was inside. We tried talking to it and singing to it. But it would not hatch. So we called for the police and doctor. We guarded it and built a wall around it .We tried reading a story and Mrs Condliff and Ava did the Dip .We were feeling quite desperate so we decided to leave it alone and keep it warm with a blanket .We left it food and water and made posters to warn our friends not to touch! Now we are going to be patient and wait for the right time. We think it might be a giant chick or spider or dragon or perhaps a crocodile...........

In our nursery we have our very own caterpillars. They are changing into cocoons at the moment. We had a fundraising day for ACTION FOR CHILDREN. We dressed as patterned caterpillars and butterflies and performed our wiggle dance .We then walked 1 mile around our school yard in a caterpillar line.

Well done to our children. We raised £121.00 for our charity.

In nursery we are embarking on another REAL project. We asked the question "Who might we see in Nursery Rhyme Land?" .We have been learning rhymes at home and in school. We have welcomed teachers and parents to our nursery to sing their  favourite rhymes with us. This week we dressed as nursery rhyme characters and enjoyed a parade around all the classes singing as we marched .We invited parents to our library and WOW room to see our nursery rhyme frieze and hear about our next exciting step in our business. Watch this space.......

On Monday we had a special delivery from the post man. It was a penguin! We tried to make it talk to us . We said hello and sang a song and did a dizzy dance .But penguin said nothing. We made it a happy hat and Mr Seddon even stood on his head .But penguin said nothing! Then we opened a lovely story about penguin. We read all about lion eating Ben and then penguin bit the lion on his nose! We shared the story with our friends.

We had lots of fun making ice for our penguin friends. We had to find ways of helping the penguins escape from inside the ice .

We had lots of fun in nursery with visits from police officers ,a dental nurse, a family health worker and a hairdresser/beautician.

We set up a police station and arrested a burglar. We chased him across the big school yard .We took his photograph and finger prints.

We were engineers and we designed and built a skateboard park .It  was lots of fun doing a safety test on our skateboard.

We set up a hospital and a vet's surgery looking after. We had a very busy day looking after the animals and dollies.

At the end of the week we had a go at Hot Seating.

We are so proud of our morning and afternoon nursery children. Their wonderful performance of the Nativity Sleepy Jesus showed everyone the true meaning of Christmas .The sleepy children were too excited to sleep. They listened to the story of the dancing snowflakes and the very busy little angels. The marching presents and dancing toys visited the stable to see the new baby.
To end our Christmas fun chasing very naughty elves, writing letters to Santa and making toys in Santa's workshop we invited our parents to a Christmas Craft Day. We are not sure who enjoyed it more the children or the parents?
We are very proud of our real life project .We asked the question 'What do I look like?' We practised drawing our faces and faces of our friends .We made a portrait on canvas which were displayed in an exhibition in Norris Green library. We sold our portraits and with the profit had a visit to a café and are now deciding which toy to buy.
Back to our edible garden to see what happened to our tiny seeds. Wow look at the pumpkins!
